June 2007 Progress Report

The pool was constructed this month...

pool1.jpg pool2.jpg

The floor was poured over ALOT of rebar
a wheelbarrow at a time...

pool3.jpg pool4.jpg

Then...
the walls were framed with wood and
the concrete poured...

pool5.jpg pool6.jpg

Efren examined EVERY inch for flaws...

The coping-rebar was ALL bent by hand...

pool7.jpg pool8.jpg

The rounded bottom was formed
by a piece of wood Alejandro cut.
Another on-site-made tool.

pool9.jpg pool10.jpg

The rounded coping was framed
by cutting a plastic pipe in half.

pool11.jpg pool12.jpg

Sela watches ALL the construction...
She LOVES to swim.

"Chuey" German (Herman) from Mulege
hauled and delivered the pool plaster from San Diego.

We really also need to thank Jim Evans
from Southern California
for supplying the plaster.
Pool plaster is not available here locally.

Susan chose her pool tile in Santa Rosalia...

Also...the deep-end seats were added.
LOOK at the framing for the seats... WOW!!!

pool15.jpg pool16.jpg

The pool equipment is in and
Susan is HAPPY!!!

Next month we plaster and fill the pool.

The roof is being installed now...

roof1.jpg roof2.jpg

First they layed down 90 pound felt...

roof3.jpg roof4.jpg

HOT tar is boiled in a 50 gallon drum.

The buckets of boiling tar are
hoisted to the roof VERY carfully!!!

roof5.jpg roof6.jpg

HOT tar sure stinks.

roof7.jpg roof8.jpg

The "inspectors" check each roof carefully...
You KNOW who the real "inspector" is...

roof9.jpg roof10.jpg

The final roof tiles were delivered.

If you counted corectly there are
14,000 tiles.

roof11.jpg roof12.jpg

The tiles are being applied with concrete.

Our casita is the first to be stuccoed inside.

The french doors and windows we imported
from Lowes in the US
are currently being installed.

windows1.jpg windows2.jpg

We are having glass block
installed for the bathrooms.

You'll need a ladder to look through.
HA HA HA

windows3.jpg windows4.jpg

It ALMOST looks like we could
live inside...
LOTS more work to go...too bad.

windows5.jpg windows6.jpg

Fidel finished the concrete water tank
storage container.

tank1.jpg tank2.jpg

The corners are formed by cutting
a piece of plywood then slicing it.

tank3.jpg tank4.jpg

The "bunker" is so big
Susan can walk inside...
for repairs... HA HA HA

tank5.jpg tank6.jpg

Here Susan cleans the
trailer water tank...

tank7.jpg

and NO...
the water didn't smell like feet...
HA HA HA

The "boys" put a cross on the lighthouse

cross.jpg

The cross was in honor of the
"Day of the Cross"
celebrated in Mexico...everywhere.

light1.jpg light2.jpg

Since the water tank container is done
Fidel has moved to the lighthouse.

light3.jpg light4.jpg

The concrete is hauled up in buckets...
one at a time.

light5.jpg
A NEW working-plan for the "copola"
to finish the top of the lighthouse
is in place.

This project is continuing with the GREAT work of
Efren Hernandez, Alejandro, Lupe,
and their construction team at...
