Semana Santa 2006 Progress
We traveled to Mulege to observe Semana Santa Week.
The Sunrises were outstanding.
No problems driving down but there were more travelers.
Weather was clear and warm.
Only one family came to our beach.
They were the family of construction workers building a nice home at Campo Naranjos.
They left NO trash!!!
A couple of guys came to Kite Surf for the day.
Looks like fun....they were very good.
Susan and Brandon want to try this sport.
Our neighbors at
Campo Naranjos
were pertty busy.
They have toilets and showers.
80 pesos to camp.
We brought Brandon again...he's our nephew.
He can't wait to use the Seadoos.
Susan took Brandon and our neighbor JoLynn out riding.
Susan did some "yard work".
Lots of shovels left.
Lots of work going on at
Punta Suenos.
Vic and Debbie have sold all the beach front lots and now have some resales.
They are selling their "Palapa House".
It's a "Turn Key" unit.
Everythings done.
Mace from
La Bahia
is selling lots and getting ready to open up phase two.
He has piped water to each lot.
Armando and Delia's son, Armando Jr., has just started to split a lot next to La Bahia.
These lots will be about 1000 feet from the beach, on a gentle slope, and will be reasonabaly priced.
We're told community rules will be part of the purchase price to assure continued value.
Armando Jr. hasn't even put up the for sale signs and people are inquiring.
We tested some new LED light bulbs.
These lights put out the same amount of light as a 40 watt bulb but use only 3.4 watts.
They cost about $20 a bulb but will use much less energy.
We will use this type of lighting in the casitas and lighthouse.
Norm and Toni who winter at Los Naranjos cooked some Puffer Fish for us.
This is the first time we've eaten this dangerous fish.
Many people each year die from eating incorrectly prepared Puffer Fish.
The fishermen next door only fish for this little guy.
They'll sell you a big bag of correctly cleaned filets for 100 pesos.
Every tuesday they haul their catch to Santa Rosalia and travel by ferry to the mainland. It's then shipped to the orient.
Armando says this fish is considered the "Queenfish" of the ocean.
Looks like lobster and tastes like mild fish.
The taste is excellent.
Frozen Filets for sale in the orient.
We almost forgot to do the layout and furnish the lighthouse.
The Lighthouse will be a rental.
Brandon say's he'll stay in the lighthouse when he visits.
The lighthouse will have two bed rooms like the casitas.
The beds will have to be custom made because of the circular walls.
The drive back was a little slower.
There was a wait at every army checkpoint.
Lots of people going home to work monday.
The banks were closed Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
We weren't able to exchange dollars for pesos.
The rate was eleven to one.
Efren Hernandez

will start construction of the Casitas in September.
We'll be back...
